Safety at Quest Reality Games
You have likely heard about the tragic fire that recently happened in an escape room in Poland, as a result of negligence from the company, which resulted in the tragic loss of five lives and one injury.
Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those that lost their lives, and we want to reassure you that we take the safety of our guests and staff very seriously.
You are never truly locked in a room
Following are the existing precautions we had already taken prior to this this tragic and frightening event: Although we create the appearance of being locked in our themed rooms for immersive purposes, unlike some other escape rooms, you will always have a way to easily remove yourself from the rooms. All of our rooms are equipped with clearly marked emergency exit buttons beside the doors. These will allow you to escape quickly whenever you need to. If for any reason you are unable to open the doors yourself, our Game Masters can do so with the flip of a single switch.
In the event of an emergency, all of our doors will automatically open
All of our magnetic locks—including every single one of our doors—are connected directly to the fire alarm system, and are programmed to disengage immediately in the event of a fire or power outage.
Our emergency systems are tested monthly
Each month, our emergency systems are tested by a qualified technician to ensure they are functioning as expected.
Fire inspections are regularly conducted
The Victoria Fire Department conducts regular inspections of our facility to ensure we meet all fire code requirements.
Emergency equipment
We have fire extinguishers throughout our facility that are regularly inspected to ensure they are operating as expected.
Our game masters are trained in dealing with emergency situations
We have a documented emergency procedure in place, and our staff are trained in how to deal with rare emergencies that may occur. We also have numerous emergency exits. In the event of an emergency, staff are trained to make sure all of our players are able to get out of the building quickly and safely.
Fire Safety During Build
Fire, health, and safety is our utmost concern during the build of any of our immersive themes. We use 5/8” fire-rated gyprock for the walls and use low (12v) voltage circuitry for our electronics—all of which are inspected and approved by qualified building inspectors during our build. We also ensure there are no obstructions to escape in the unlikely event of a fire.
Our game masters watch your entire game
While you may believe that our game masters are simply watching you to give you hints, the safety of our players is always on our game master’s minds. If anything were to go seriously wrong and the room become unsafe, the game masters are ready to intervene before any injuries occur—or better yet, are able to stop the dangerous situation from occurring all together.
You are able to communicate with your game masters at any point throughout your gameplay
If something doesn’t seem right, or one of your teammates has injured themselves, don’t hesitate to contact your game master! Our staff is here to help you have a safe and enjoyable experience, and if anything stands to get in the way of this, do not hesitate to ask.
Although what happened in Poland is tragic and frightening, be assured that we have taken every precaution to ensure that your experience at Quest Reality Games is as safe as it is fun.
