What is Cluetivity?

Cluetivity is a GPS treasure-hunting game, suitable for families and friends of all ages. It combines the best elements of classical treasure hunts, GPS-Geocaching, and Live-Escape-Games with Augmented Reality Technology into an outdoor team game.

The basic gameplay is simple: players are provided with a data-enabled iPad and a toolkit (called an Action Pack) that they use to find geolocations and crack riddles and solve puzzles in order to accomplish their mission. Along the way, they interact with virtual avatars in real places.

Four Different Games To Choose From

Magic Portal

Magic Portal is an outdoor GPS adventure game where the lines of reality and fantasy become blurred. With the help of a special “portal tracker” (aka: iPad), equipped with GPS, you and your team will be guided by a Goblin avatar on a magical treasure hunt throughout downtown Victoria. In order to complete your quest and to save the world from evil trolls who are invading our planet, you and your team will need to work together to solve riddles and puzzles in order to close the magic portal!

Haunted Victoria

A portal to the afterlife has opened up in Victoria and the spirits that once haunted its landmarks are returning to their previous haunts!

Victoria is one of the most haunted cities in Canada, so you will need to put your ghost-hunting skills to the test in order to catch the spirits before they take over the city! With the help of a special “ghost tracker” (aka: iPad), equipped with GPS, you and your team will be guided on a haunted hunt throughout downtown Victoria.

Operation Mindfall

An evil organization has unleashed a mind-control virus on the world, and is preparing to remotely trigger its evil power at any moment! Your task is to connect with the Secret Agent organization, W.I.S.E., to create an antivirus, disinfect Victoria’s groundwater, and hack into the malicious company’s mainframe server to stop the signal in time to save the world! Armed with a top-secret briefcase full of gadgets, and a secret agent-issued tablet to guide you on your mission throughout downtown Victoria, you are the world’s last hope!

Operation Mindfall – Bike Edition

This route is specifically designed for cyclists and covers the following areas: Fisherman’s Wharf, Ogden Point, Beacon Hill Park and downtown Victoria. Bikes are not provided, however you may rent an electric bike from Ride the Glide (located across the street from Quest Reality Games), or use your own.

If renting a bike, please visit Ride the Glide reservations for availability and pricing. Reservations are recommended to ensure a bike is available for your gameplay. Please note their closing time of 6:00 pm. The bike route takes approximately 2-2 ½ hours to complete. Average time needed for a bike rental is 3 hours.

Operation Mindfall bike edition, Cluetivity games, and bike rentals are priced and reserved separately.

Game Play Specifics

Our Cluetivity games can be played any time—rain or shine!  Most take approximately 1 ½-2 hours to complete (except the Operation Mindfall Bike Edition).

We recommend groups of 2-6 players, and can therefore accommodate up to 60 players.

We recommend a minimum age of 8 years, and require at least one player 18+.

In addition to being time-based, the games are also points-based, and include a built-in leaderboard, making them perfect for a little ‘friendly competition’.

Customizable

Cluetivity games are highly customizable, in terms of size, location, and complexity, also putting you in control of the length of your game play anywhere in the Greater Victoria area! Choose from a pre-set game, or collaborate with our designers to develop a route custom-tailored to meet the needs of your unique corporate team (minimum 5 weeks notice required for custom games). For pricing and to arrange your personalized Cluetivity game please contact us.

Length, Difficulty, and Complexity

We can vary the games not only by length, but also by level of difficulty and complexity. For instance, we can incorporate elements of geocaching and treasure-hunting by including puzzles that contain elements of discovering physical objects, such as chests, boxes, or plaques with which players can physically interact. Likewise, players can be directed to make a stop at local business for a meal or treat.

Educational Value

Puzzles and riddles can be customized to include trivia or interesting information and facts about the history and geography of Victoria. Existing landmarks and points of interest can be utilized to provide information for the puzzles and riddles. This creates a unique way for players of all ages to experience—and indeed, interact with—popular sight-seeing destinations around Victoria while learning about the rich history and heritage of the city.
